When does registration start?
- Spring season online registration opens on December 1st every year. You will find a link for online registration on the BSLL home page at www.BSLL.org.
- Winter season online registration opens every year by August 1st.
How do I register my child to play baseball or softball at BSLL?
- Register online at www.BSLL.org.
How much does it cost to play baseball or softball at BSLL?
- Spring: League age 4-6 yrs. old $150
- League age 7+ yrs. old $200 for 1st, $150 for each add’l.
- Max per family $450
- $50 late fee per player applies for late registration
- Winter: League age 4-6 yrs. old $75
- League age 7+ yrs. old $125 for 1st, $75 for each add’l.
- Max per family $250
- $50 late fee per player applies for late registration
How is League Age determined?
- For baseball, is it the age of your child as of April 30th of the upcoming year.
- For softball, it is the age of your child as of December 31st of the current year.
Does each player receive a uniform?
- Yes, every player will receive a shirt and a hat. Shirts and hats will be handed out by Team Managers once available. Managers will also provide additional information about pants, socks, belts, and other uniform questions once teams have been selected.
What is the season start and end date?
- The Spring season starts in the middle of February and goes through middle to late May.
- The Winter season starts around the middle of September and ends before Thanksgiving.
What is the practice and game schedule?
- Game and practice schedules will be provided to each player by their Manager once finalized. Practice and game schedules are NOT finalized until after the player draft or allocation. Consequently, the League can NOT guarantee any specific practice or game days for any particular players. When you register your child to play, if you have a practice day preference, this should be noted in the comments section. However, while the League will strive to accommodate everyone, there is NO guarantee.
How many practices and games will there be?
- Typically each team will practice once a week and have one game per week. Practice is usually during the week after 5pm. Tball & Farm generally practice for 1 hour and their games are usually on Saturday mornings or afternoon. There have been games scheduled in these divisions on Friday evenings. Minors and Majors practices are 1.5 to 2 hours per week. Some coaches schedule more than one practice each week in these divisions. Games are usually in the evenings after 5pm or Saturday morning or afternoon. Field availability at BSLL is limited. As a result, rain-outs and other factors could eliminate practices/games in a given week.
What level should my child play in? Tball, Farm, Minor C, Minor B, Minor A, or Majors?
- Divisions are divided by age. Players may be placed in a division higher or lower than their suggested league age if there is a safety risk to the player or other players. In addition, the results of try-outs (Spring season) are considered when determining the most appropriate division for players. All player placements are approved by a committee of league officials.
Baseball:
- T-ball: League age 4 and 5 year olds
- Farm: League age 6 year olds
- Minor C: League age 7, 8, & 9 year olds
- Minor B: League age 8, 9, & 10 year olds
- Minor A: League age 9, 10, & 11 year olds
- Majors: League age 11 & 12 year olds
Softball:
- Minor C: League age 6 & 7 year olds
- Minor B: League age 8 & 9 year olds
- Minor A: League age 10 & 11 year olds
- Majors: League age 11 & 12 year olds
- Juniors: League age 13, 14, 15, & 16 year olds
Are there tryouts?
- There are only tryouts in the Spring season for players league age 7 and older.
- There are NO tryouts for Winter ball. Players are assigned to teams via an allocation that is held by the coaches.
Does everyone make the team?
- Yes, every player who registers will be assigned to a team. The league age and individual skill level of each player will determine the division in which they play.
What equipment will my child need?
- Every player will need a glove and helmet. It is also recommended that players have their own bats.
Who do I talk to at BSLL if I have a problem concerning my child after the season starts?
- The first step in communication should be with your child’s Team Manager. If the proble is not resolved at that level, you and the Team Manager should approach the Player Agent for your child’s division. You can find the Player Agent’s contact information under the Board Member section of the BSLL website.
How many coaches are there per team?
- In most cases there is 1 team manager and 1 team coach.
What do I do if I want to manage or coach a team at BSLL?
- Complete the required Little League Volunteer Application located on the BSLL website in the Registration section. This form must be returned with a copy of your driver’s license to the BSLL Safety Officer. You can find the contact information for the Safety Officer on the BSLL website under the Board Members section.
Will I receive training?
- Generally, BSLL hosts a Coaches Clinic at their fields before each season.
How does the draft work?
- Spring season: Tryouts are held for each age group. Players are evaluated by Managers, Coaches, and other League representatives. A draft is coordinated by each division’s Commissioner and Player Agent where each team is selected by the manager and coach.
- Winter season: Because there are no tryouts in Winter ball a player allocation will be conducted with each division and their respective managers and coaches. The division Commissioners coordinate the player allocation.
Baseball League Organization
- TBall (ages 4-5)
- This is a non-competitive program composed of 11-13 players on each team. Focus is on having fun and teaching basic fundamentals. All hitting is done from a tee. Teams bat the full roster.
- Farm League (ages 5-6)
- This is a non-competitive program composed of 11-13 players on each team. Focus is on having fun and teaching basic fundamentals. All hitting is done from coach pitch. Teams bat the full roster.
- Minor C (ages 7-9) Marina Field
- This is a non-competitive program composed of 11-13 players on each team. This is a coach pitch program. This is a more advanced introduction to baseball and the rules. Emphasis is on having fun and teaching fundamentals. Teams bat the full roster.
- Minor B (ages 8-10) Middle Field
- This is our first introduction to competitive baseball. Teams are generally composed of 11-13 players. Emphasis continues to be on having fun but competitive elements such as combination of coach and kid pitch are introduced. Teams bat the full roster.
- Minor A (ages 9-11) Major Field
- Emphasis continues to be on having fun and learning the fundamentals of baseball. Playing time adjusts with the more skilled players receiving more playing time. However, players will continue to get experience playing different positions. More competitive elements like base stealing are introduced. Teams are generally composed of 11-13 players. Teams bat the full roster.
- Majors (ages 11-12) Major Field
- This is a competitive program. Playing time and positions will reflect the relative skill levels of the players. In this league, the full roster will bat for a portion of the season and then revert to batting only 9 players. Teams are generally composed of 11-12 players.
